The National Festival of Kerala Onam is celebrated with much pomp and colours in every nook and corner of the country and even all over the world where Malayalees are present. The celebration took a different shape in Portiuncula campus of the FCC Generalate which witnessed a much interesting and edifying Onam Fest. His Excellency Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, the Auxiliary Bishop of ErnakulampAngamaly Archdiocese was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Priests and Nuns together with the Bishop gathered to receive a rather strange and unique group of guests of the day. They are none other than the Migrant labourers from different States of India located in various places from Aluva to Perumbavoor. Nearly 100 parents and children attended the celebration.
Every Sunday Holy Mass and variety programmes are arranged for their spiritual and social upliftment in the St. Alphonsa Memorial Centre in the Portiuncula Campus. Onam fell on Sunday and it added colour to the programmes. Sr. Regy Maria, the General Councillor and Sr. Rose Mary (Hazaribag) took leadership in the prayer service. Rev. Fr. Jimmy Pinunkal celebrated the Holy Mass. Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath and Rev. Fr. Sabu Malayil SJ joined with him and gave inspiring messages on the occasion. After the Spiritual Banquet the Congregation gathered for the traditional Onam lunch in the St. Clare Squire. Mahabali and Vamana together welcomed the guests. During and after the lunch various cultural programmes were presented by the Junior Sisters and representatives of the migrants. Asst. Superior General Sr. Geo Maria, the General Councillors, all the sisters of Portiuncula and Sr. Rosily John & Sr. Little Rose of Ernakulam Province joined with the migrant brothers, sisters and kids in this solemn celebrations.
