He went up the mountain and called to him those whom he wanted, and they came to him. And he appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles, to be with him and to be sent out to proclaim the message, and to have authority to cast out demons(Mk.3:13-15).
Religious formation is the bringing up of a new personality which is conceived at baptism, but which must be shaped and fashioned to the particular mode of our vocation. It is a process of integral personal growth into Jesus Christ' Const. Though there are various models of formation, all these are continuation of the formation given to the disciples by Jesus. Franciscan formation in particular is based on a personal encounter with the Lord and begins with the call of God and the individuals free response to this call under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Formation undoubtedly is one of the most vital aspects of religious life. Being aware of the importance of formation, FCC has always laid great emphasis on the formation.
As the Congregation has raised to the status of Pontifical Right, FCC has started its efforts to promote a unified form of formation, from 1973 onwards. Responding to the constant call of the Church to formulate a RATIO and being convinced more and more of the primacy of formation, the Congregation has developed an FCC system of formation, for the constant and steady growth in Holiness through Lowliness, and published the syllabus of formation for various stages, in the name 'Open to the Spirit' in 2003.
The religious formation make our young religious feel confident to face the challenges that the society present. With the co-operation of the Syllabus revision committee and FCC Theological Study Forum a timely renewed syllabus and programmes have been prepared in the year 2012. Formation is the prime responsibility of the entire Congregation. The booklet of the formation syllabus is made available in each community for their study so that every member understands the formation programme. The study and observance of this enable the members to live the revived FCC spirit with more vigour and enthusiasm with grace filled presence of Jesus and overshadowing of the Holy Spirit to live the Franciscan Clarist identity.
Principle of FCC
God is our loving Father and we are His beloved children. Sharing in the self-emptying love of Jesus, we renounce our rights in the spirit of minority and surrender totally to Him, aiming at the perfect Beatitude consummating on the Cross. All our preferences, deliberations and choices lead us to our goal, the Cross.
Principle of F CC Formation
We are the beloved of God, chosen, set apart, called and consecrated in holiness as the lowly ones of God. Aiming at the Perfect Love, we become the least in poverty, following Christ to the CROSS. In the spirit of minority we are determined to become the least on the Cross at any cost.
Derived Principle of FCC Formation
God is our loving Father and we are His beloved children. Aiming at the Perfect Beatitude Consummating in the CROSS, sharing in the self-emptying love of Jesus our model in the Formation ministry, we commit ourselves totally to be like Him in His minority, enabling the formees to discern their vocation to FCC, to encounter Jesus, poor, humble and crucified, initiate a deep intimate personal friendship with Him, and interiorize His personality traits in their own lives. Hence, as formators, all our preferences, deliberations and choices are directed to achieve our goal, the CROSS.
Objective of FCC Formation
The objective of FCC formation ministry is to attain Perfect love by assimilating and deepening the identity of lowliness and to aim at being the living sacrifice (being the least) and to commit oneself by the power of minority. It also aims at growing in holiness as an FCC Sister, through an integrated formation, rooted in the Charism and identity of Franciscan Clarist Congregation at all levels especially physical, spiritual, moral, affective, academic, apostolic, communitarian and social, enabling her to dedicate herself for the service of God and the Church.
