FCC is a Missionary Congregation and has inherited the mission spirit as a heritage from St. Francis of Assisi. Imbibing the spirit of compassion and accepting His command, Go throughout the whole world and preach the Gospel to all mankind, FCC started its Mission in North India in 1960 and Abroad in 1976.
Mission in India
The aim of our apostolic mission and various ministries is to work tirelessly and selflessly to spread the Kingdom of God and to reach the Gospel values to everyone we meet and minister. FCC is present in all the States of India except Goa and Sikkim. 1623 FCC sisters staying in 292 Convents render their service in the Mission stations in India. 208 sisters are hailing from the mission areas of the different states of India and the number is steadily on the increase.
Before the entry of the missionaries, the political, Social, Cultural, Religious and Educational situation of the mission areas were terribly poor and weak. Through the dedication and hard work of the sisters, the standard of the living of the people have improved in each field.
The Catholics improved their sacramental life and started leading a stable family life. Education has made the people more social, spiritual and the standard of living has improved. Humanitarian values have become strong among the people. Sharing all their resources the sisters help the people to live a more dignified and respectable life.
Sisters manifest their responsibility through their intercession, by prayer and penance for the families Parish, Dioceses, the State, Nation and the whole World. Many of our sisters lead humble and simple lives which is appreciated and admired by the people. Servant of God Sr. Rani Maria is an inspirational model for the missionaries. In every FCC community, the day begins with one hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the Holy Mass and the sisters draw spiritual energy for their days apostolic fervour from this so that they may courageously proclaim the Lord Jesus leading a joyful religious life.
Thus they are also able to keep fidelity to FCC Charism at the times of persecution, troubles and turmoil in many of the states of India and abroad.
Imbibing the missionary zeal 367 FCC sisters staying in 84 houses in abroad render their service in the countries like Italy, Germany, USA, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Switzerland, Spain, Austria and Malawi. Evangelization, Faith Formation, Pastoral work, Family apostolate, Basic Christian Communities, Youth ministry, Education, Uplift of the moral fiber of the young girls and ladies, Rehabilitation Centre for the mentally and physically disabled, Vocational Training Centre, Old Age Home, Health care and Healing ministry, Home for the street children, orphanages, village animation, Social work etc are the main apostolate. The sisters get accustomed to the different languages, customs, traditions and habits of the people. It is an expression of our solidarity with the Universal Mission. FCC has started Religious Formation in Kenya by taking local vocations. 20 sisters of African origin are members of the Congregation.
